Scranton Storms Back To Top Brandywine

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine held a 16-point halftime lead, but Hasiin Dixon and Jeff Griffin combined for 35 second-half points as Penn State Scranton outscored the Lions 61-33 over the final 20 minutes to rally for an 85-73 win.

Dixon's jumper gave Scranton a 17-16 lead at the 11:52 mark of the first half, but that would be the final field goal allowed by Brandywine during the opening half. Brandywine took advantage, using an 8-0 spurt to build a 24-17 lead.

Anthony Costa (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Terrance Quinn (Havertown, Pa./Radnor) and Marcus Turner (Claymont, Del./Chichester) all buried three-pointers during the final five minutes of the half as Brandywine led 40-24 at the break.

Scranton quickly began to chip away, taking the lead for the first time in the second half with 13:01 to play as Griffin drained a jumper.

Brandywine was within one at the nine-minute mark after Kevin Zwolak (Lansdowne, Pa./Shipley School) sank a basket, but Scranton used a 17-2 run over the next three minutes to put the game away.

Quinn knocked down four triples en route to a 14-point effort, while Turner also posted 14 points. Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) added 12 points and seven rebounds and Zwolak tallied 10 points.

Dixon led all scorers with 28 points and Griffin totaled 22 points and six assists.

Brandywine (6-18, 5-10 PSUAC) closes out its season Monday with a 4:00 pm home game against Penn State Greater Allegheny.
