GBCC Splits Double Header Against NHTI

Game 1

Even though GBCC and NHTI both had their opportunities, it was NHTI that eventually prevailed 10-6 in the first of a double header on Sunday. The game was tied at six with NHTI batting in the top of the seventh when Simard hit a grand slam off of Christian Dow, driving in four runs.

Despite the loss, The Herons did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, NHTI had nine hits on the way to victory.

NHTI captured the lead in the first inning. A wild pitch by Colin Wegner scored one run for NHTI.

After NHTI scored two runs in the top of the fourth, GBCC answered with two of their own. NHTI scored when there was an error, scoring one run and Simard hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. GBCC then answered when there was an error, scoring two runs.

There Herons scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was driven by a single by Jose Soto and a single by Angel Normandia.

Home runs for NHTI came when Schesser homered in the fifth inning and Simard homered in the seventh.

Normandia went 1-for-3 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.

Cappelletty and Whithead each collected multiple hits for NHTI.

 

Game 2

The GBCC Herons took an early lead in the first inning.

GBCC built a four-run lead after scoring three runs in the fourth and then held off NHTI's charge.

The game was tied at six with GBCC batting in the bottom of the sixth when there was an error, scoring one run.

The GBCC Herons took the lead for good in the sixth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from NHTI by a 7-6 score on Friday.

Great Bay scored on a home run by Joshua Saurman and a walk by Angel Normandia.

The Herons had ten hits in the game. Christian Dow, Jay Rodriguez, and Michael Sterritt each collected multiple hits. Dow led with three hits in three at bats.

NHTI collected nine hits. Cruz and McClellan each collected multiple hits for NHTI. McClure led NHTI with two runs batted in. He went 0-for-1 on the day.
