Brandywine Secures Top Seed In PSUAC Tournament On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the fifth consecutive season, the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team will be the No. 1 seed in the Penn State University Athletic Conference tournament as the Lions secured a regular-season championship following a 6-1 victory over Penn State Beaver on Senior Day.

The Lions, who have won 25 consecutive regular season games against PSUAC foes, won their eighth match in a row to up their record to 12-3 overall and 8-0 in the league. Following its final two regular season matches, Brandywine will host a PSUAC Tournament semifinal match on Monday, October 30.

"It feels great to lock up the No. 1 overall seed. I'm really happy with how well we played today start to finish against a quality opponent like Beaver," said Head Coach Jesse Zafiratos.

Brandywine led Beaver 2-0 at the half before exploding for three goals during the final 11 minutes to pull away. Brandon Crochunis (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) scored three times, while Mohamed Camara (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) added two goals and one assist and Daniel Willie (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) accounted for the final Lion goal.

Crochunis put Brandywine on the board 16:33 into the first half as his drive hit off the inside of the post and bounded into the back of the net. Camara doubled the lead with under five minutes remaining in the half off a feed from Chris Riebman (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore).

Beaver sliced its deficit to one goal just 34 seconds into the second half, but Willie added an insurance tally for Brandywine during the 67th minute. Crochunis followed with two goals during a span of 4:09 to complete his hat trick and Camara closed the scoring at the 84:04 mark.

Brandywine recorded 22 shots overall, putting eight on target, while holding Beaver to just seven shot attempts. Lions' netminder Will Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) made two saves as did Beaver goalkeeper Sarath Santhoshkumar.

Brandywine plays its final conference match of the season on Wednesday at Scranton (4:00 pm).
