All-around team effort leads New Jersey men's soccer team to 5-0 triumph over Central Penn on Wednesday afternoon

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team won for the third time in four matches on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Central Penn by a score of 5-0 in a contest played at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey. With the victory, Berkeley improved its mark to 9-6 on the 2016 campaign, while Central Penn dipped to 4-10 with the defeat.

Five different players scored for Berkeley. In the first half, the Knights gradually built their lead, getting goals from Brandon Bras (from Edgar Jurado at 15:50), Julian Caprio (from Anthony Hernandez at 25:09), and Eryk Rachwal (also from Hernandez at 36:41). Berkeley dominated the first half offensively, out-shooting Central Penn by a count of 18-3.

The Knights tacked on two more goals in the second session to put the match away. At 62:48, offensive ace Matthew Neto collected a gorgeous lead pass from Kevin Soares before blasting the ball home to make it 4-0 in favor of Berkeley College. Hernandez – who had two assists in the first half – rounded out the Knights' scoring with a goal at 70:09 (from Nathan Malka) to push Berkeley's advantage to 5-0.

Berkeley College out-shot Central Penn 36-3 for the match.

The Knights will return to the pitch on Tuesday, October 25, when Berkeley College will take on Penn State Brandywine in a pivotal regular season finale. Start-time at the Maple Zone Sports Village in Aston, PA is scheduled for 3:00pm.
