Brandywine Suffers Two-Point Setback Against DuBois

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine put five players in double-figure scoring, but Dane Aucker and Sam Roselli combined for 51 points for Penn State DuBois as DuBois edged Brandywine 86-84 on Friday night in Penn State University Athletic Conference men's basketball action.

Shafi Mohammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Hawbridge School (N.C.)) paced Brandywine with a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double in his first game played in over one month. Isaiah Wilmore (Philadelphia, Pa./Ben Fraklin) netted 13 points and added eight rebounds and three blocks, while Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.

Aided by a 14-0 run spanning 2:40, Brandywine opened up a 24-14 lead midway through the first half. DuBois came as close as four points before Turner answered with a three and Fisher followed with his own triple to extend the edge back to double digits.

Turner's trifecta at the 3:40 mark made the Lions' lead 43-30; however, Brandywine was held off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half, helping DuBois close to within three after 20 minutes.

A Tristan Pierce triple tied the score at 45-45 early in the second stanza and DuBois eventually opened up an eight-point advantage following another Pierce three with 13:12 remaining. Wilmore scored seven-straight points, including a fast-break dunk, that brought the Lions within one, but Aucker and Pierce answered with eight-straight points as the DuBois lead swelled to 10.

Brandywine rallied behind the duo of Turner and Mohammad, who rattled off nine consecutive points, making the deficit three with 2:58 to play.

DuBois' pushed in front by seven points, but the third three of the game from Fisher followed by a DuBois turnover and two Fisher free throws helped Brandywine get within two with 44 seconds remaining.

Brandywine forced turnovers on two consecutive DuBois possessions, but was able to convert just one point from those miscues, a Mohammad free throw that made the count 85-84.

Pierce was fouled with eight seconds remaining and made just the back end of a pair of free throw chances, giving the Lions an final opportunity to tie or win the game, but Brandywine's final shot fell off the rim as time expired.

Pierce added 17 points for DuBois, which shot 45 percent from the field. Brandywine converted on 39 percent of its field goal tries and forced 21 DuBois turnovers.
