Mustangs Drop Opener to Machias

Machias, ME - The CMCC Men's Soccer team opened up the season Saturday with a trip to University of Maine Machias. Lorenzo Segura scored first for the Clippers after he received a crossing pass from Haidar Al-Freihy. That seemed to spark the Mustangs to life and just two minutes later CMCC was awarded a penalty kick and Evan Blanchard stepped up and tied the game 1-1. Unfortunately at the 32-minute mark a similar situation occurred at the other end of the field and Haidar Al-Freihy finished on a Machias penalty kick to bring the score to 2-1 for the first half. The second half was physical and competitive, but neither team could score again. Jacoby Robinson collected six saves for the Mustangs. Cameron Atherton matched that with six of his own saves for the Clippers.
