Rosemont No Match For Brandywine In Volleyball Opener

ROSEMONT, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine began its 2015 season by cruising to a three-set victory over Rosemont, defeating the Ravens by set scores of 25-11, 25-11, 25-15 on Tuesday night.

Nicole Costa (Lansdowne, Pa./Upper Darby) and Nikki Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) tied for the team lead with six kills each. Costa added two aces, while Melanie Kempf (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), Halee Kusner (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and Nicolette Napoleon (Springfield, Pa./Penn Charter) all tallied four kills.

Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) dished out 18 assists, while Sullivan Stark (Middletown, Del./William Penn) tallied seven helpers.

Defensively, Dee Lovell (Avondale, Pa./Kennett) registered a team-best eight digs, while Kim Russo (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) collected six digs along with four of the Lions' 14 aces.

Brandywine begins the home portion of its schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 8 against Bryn Athyn at 7:00 pm.
