Men's basketball goes 1-1 in NYC

The men's basketball team traveled to New York City and split two vital conference games. 

In the first game of the road trip, the men's basketball team faced HVIAC foe King's College in a game held at Baruch College in Manhattan. The Mighty Oaks came away with an 87-67 win. Junior Ryan Caldwell had another monster game for the Mighty Oaks finishing with 20 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. Sophomore center Tyler Kuhn scored a career high 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Jared Bard chipped in 16 points along with four three-pointers. The following day, the Mighty Oaks traveled to Queens, New York where it faced USCAA #14-ranked Vaughn College in another HVIAC matchup. Despite a strong effort by ESF, the Mighty Oaks fell 86-80 in a back-and-forth affair. The Mighty Oaks were able to handle Vaughn's patent half court zone most of the first half to come away with a three-point lead at half time. In the second half, the Mighty Oaks led by as many as 11. The Warriors adjusted by switching to a man-to-man defense. A couple key three-pointers by Vaughn brought the Warriors back into the game. The Mighty Oaks had two chances to tie the game in the last 35 seconds, but were unable to convert. Caldwell continued his strong play finishing with 22 points. Junior Dan Treadwell contributed 20 points in the loss. The men's basketball team falls to 5-13 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The team faces nationally-ranked Berkley College on Senior Day, Feb. 13 at Institute of Technology.
