Brandywine Extends Winning Streak To Five With 3-0 Triumph Over Mont Alto

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine cruised to its fifth consecutive victory, a 3-0 win over Mont Alto, in PSUAC women's volleyball action on Thursday night. With the win, the Lions improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 against league foes.

After claiming the opening set 25-19, Brandywine trailed 11-2 in set No. 2, but rattled off 13 of the next 15 points to grab the match's momentum. The Lions rolled through the final set, tallying the final 11 points, en route to a 25-6 triumph.

Junior Nicole Costa paced the Brandywine offense with 12 kills, while freshman Nicole Poissant recorded 11 and junior Molly Nichols added eight.

Juniors Miranda Biondi and Kimberly Russo both collected a pair of aces and Biondi handed out 31 of the team's 37 assists. Defensively, Biondi posted a team-best 13 digs, while Russo chipped in with 12. Costa registered three blocks and Nichols amassed two.

Mont Alto received 13 assists from Jenny Halterman, while Melissa Orlandini recorded four kills, five digs and two blocks.

Brandywine opens a busy, four-match weekend with a PSUAC tri-match against Penn State Beaver and Penn State Greater Allegheny in Beaver on Saturday.
