Wright State Lake Campus outlasted Edison CC on Saturday, in game one, after five lead changes, squeaking out a 5-3 win.
The Lakers finally managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning. A wild pitch scored Tyler Venters to give the Lakers the lead for good.
Riley Luebke recorded the win for WSULC Lakers. He allowed three runs over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered five hits.
Mefford took the loss for Edison CC. He lasted just six innings, walked six, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
Edison CC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second. A solo blast by Neff started the inning off. More runs came home for Edison CC when Shamblin scored on a groundout by Jones.
The Lakers answered Edison CC's top inning with two runs of its own in the second and the Lakers didn't give up the lead after the sixth inning.
In game two, both Wright State and Edison CC put runners aboard, but it was the Lakers that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-7 win.
Edison CC out-hit the Lakers 12 to six, but Edison CC stranded eight runners on base.
Ronaldo Acosta racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Lakers. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Derek Waterman recorded the win for WSULC Lakers. He allowed three runs over 4 1/3 innings. Waterman struck out one, walked two and gave up seven hits.
The top of the first saw Edison CC take an early lead, 3-0. Young singled to ignite Edison CC's offense. A single by Olmo then moved Young from first to second. Negron singled, bringing home Young. More runs came home for Edison CC when Olmo scored on an RBI single by Neff and Negron scored on a passed ball.
Wright State got one-run boosts in each of the first, third and sixth. In the first, the Lakers scored on an RBI single by Isaac Fitzgerald, plating Waterman. They later scored on a wild pitch.
The Lakers survived Edison CC's surge and put up three runs of its own in the fourth, also.
