Rettle's PK Carries Men's Soccer to 1-0 Win Over Penn State Hazleton

DELHI, N.Y. (September 3, 2017) – While the Broncos came out firing in their home-opener Sunday against Penn State Hazleton, leading 30-4 in shots, the match was ultimately decided on a Brody Rettle penalty kick goal in the 76th minute that gave SUNY Delhi a 1-0 victory. The Broncos improved to 2-1, while the Lions dropped to 0-2.

Despite what the score suggests, the match had plenty of moments throughout the afternoon. By the time the day was over, both sides totaled 43 fouls, 19 corner kicks, and nine yellow cards. The sixth yellow card of the day, called on Hazleton's Isaac Whitenight at 75:49, led to Rettle's go-ahead score. Rettle attempted a match-high nine shots on the day, with six of them on goal.

Marcos Andrino finished the day with three saves as he climbed to 2-1 on the year. The Lions' Brandon Yocum turned in a 19-save performance as he fell to 0-2. SUNY Delhi held a 13-6 advantage on corner kicks and a 20-3 lead on shots on goal.

Joseph O'Halloran and Jostin Sarmiento each had three shots, all of them on goal, while Joseph Vazquez and Alhasane Sako both tallied three shots with two shots on goal.
