DOYLESTOWN, Pennsylvania – Senior Brad Jule and freshman Patrick Lutes both scored two goals to lead the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team to a 4-1 road victory at Division III Delaware Valley on Monday afternoon.
Lutes recorded his second consecutive two-goal game and third of the season, while Jule netted his first two goals of the fall for Brandywine (5-6, 4-0 PSUAC).
The Lions wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, scoring on their third shot, just under five minutes into the match when freshman Zuu Yealesea executed a throw-in pass in front of the goal to Lutes, who found the back of the net.
100 seconds later, Jule collected a rebound and knocked the ball across the goal line to double the Lions' edge. He tallied his second score of the day at the 31-minute mark to give Brandywine a 3-0 lead.
The Aggies ended Brandywine's shutout bid early in the second half, but Lutes added an insurance tally late in the final stanza. He pounded home a rebound after sophomore Nicholas Abhulimen's initial shot rang off the crossbar.
Freshman goalkeeper Patrick O'Neill made 10 saves, a season high, for the Lions, while DVC net minder Austin Brotman blocked six shots.
Brandywine's Wednesday home match versus Penn State Worthington-Scranton has been postponed, with no makeup date set. Because of the postponement, the Lions will now return to action Saturday when they look to up their conference record to 5-0 at Penn State Hazelton (2:00 pm).
