Golden Goal Lifts Penn State Brandywine to the USCAA Men's Division II Soccer National Championship

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Daniel Willis scored an unassisted goal in the 95th minute on Tuesday evening to give Penn State Brandywine a 1-0 win over Johnson & Wales Charlotte in the 2018 USCAA Men’s Division II National Championship game.

After a scoreless 90 minutes, Willis found himself with a chance to win it five minutes into the first overtime period and he put it past the goalie for Penn State Brandywine’s first soccer title.

Johnson & Wales held a commanding 17-5 advantage in shots, but couldn’t put one past Brandon Welden who made 13 saves for the champions.   Penn State Brandywine got off two shots in the overtime, with the second one bringing the championship to the Lions.

Welden was named the Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Willie and Brandon Crochunis for Penn State Brandywine.  From Johnson & Wales, JT Fucci, Brandon Greene, Mo Baskaron, Sam Fanning and Weeb Isaac were All-Tournament selections.
