WVU Tech's Glenroy Miller scored in the 30th minute on an assist by Dennis Fuerst to put the Golden Bears on the board first. The University of Maine-Fort Kent answered in the 57th minute. All-American Ben Kluvers knocked in a header off of Kyle Robin's free kick to tie the game 1-1. WVU Tech's Dennis Fuerst scored what would be the game winning goal in the 72nd minute on a cross by Raul Martin.
The Bengals attempted to rally, earning a corner kick with :03 seconds remaining in the game but were unable to convert.This heated affair resulted in 26 total fouls, 13 against each team. The Golden Bears tallied 17 total shots to Maine Fort Kent's 13 attempts.
The Golden Bears were the victors over the Bengals during the regular season (4-3) and history would repeat itself again today (both games were at WVU Tech). These two powerhouses are in the beginning stages of what is turning into a USCAA rivalry.The road to the finals was no easy feat. WVU Tech was the runner up in 2012 USCAA Men's Soccer National Championships and managed to win on a penalty kick golden goal in this year's championships (video below).
