Student-Athlete of the Year: Stephanie Harvey, Penn State Brandywine
In two years on her campus, Harvey has left a considerable mark. She recently won her school's Women of the Year award for outstanding contributions. Harvey was a captain of a campus fundraising effort that raised $31,000 to benefit families and children affected by pediatric cancer. This year she was the first student-athlete in her campuses history to dance in THON, a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer – Thon's yearly efforts culminate in a 46-hour, no sleeping, no sitting, dance marathon. In addition to her fundraising efforts, she serves as an orientation leader and Lion ambassador during new-student orientation on campus – where she earned orientation leader of the year. She's maintained a 3.82 GPA during her academic coursework.
Coach of the Year: Tim Bailey, Cleary University
Coach Bailey also holds the rare distinction of being the individual who started the program on the Cleary campus. The program's win totals have risen from nine in year one, to 13 in year two, all way to 28 wins during the current season. Despite the program's relative youth, they returned to Akron as one of the top contenders in the tournament after a top-3 coaches poll ranking through the season.
Player of the Year: Emma Riffe, St. Mary of the Woods College
In the 2017 season Emma Riffe recorded a .522 batting average, .585 on base percentage, and .700 slugging percentage. In 90 at-bats, she didn't strike out even once, while leading her team in hits, doubles, RBI's, and walk. Defensively, she's recorded a career high .980 fielding percentage on the season. Overall, Riffe ranks in the Top 10 in seven different statistical categories for the top ranked team in the tournament field.
