ON THE COURT: In the final game of day one of the 2014 USCAA  Volleyball National Championships at CARC, #9 Carlow University defeated #7 Carlow University to earn their first win of pool A action.

In what turned out to be a back and forth match, Tennessee Temple University jumped out to an early lead taking the first set 25-17. Senior, Middle Blocker Shatoya Medford led her team with 6 kills.

The second set was a close game throughout. Carlow was able to escape with a narrow victory, thanks to the strong play of sisters Carly and Kelsey Bonk. Kelsey led the Celtics with 15 digs to go along with her 15 kills, both match highs 

The third and final set also came down to the wire, however, the Celtics finished the game strong, winning by a final score of 15-13

QUICK HITTERS:

  • Junior, Carly Bonk recorded match highs in both digs and assists (15)
  • Carlow University tallied 40 kills, Tennnessee Temple University finished with 25
  • Senior, Victoria Smith finished with a team high 8 kills for the Crusaders
