Kenny Moorer spent 32 years at Florida College (1981-2013) being involved in every area of athletics.  Moorer served as assistant men’s basketball coach for the first part of his career from 1981-1986. In 1987, he assumed the head coaching position while also continuing to serve the private two-year school in Temple Terrace, Florida, as the director of Enrollment Management.  Needing to focus on one area, he gave up his coaching positon to focus on full time administrative opportunities. In 1993, he was asked to serve as the Director of Athletics, a position he held until 2013.  In 1994, he also accepted a second men’s basketball head coaching stint and did that until 2002.  Moorer started the women’s basketball program at Florida College in 2010. During his 20 year tenure as Director of Athletics, Moorer helped reestablished Florida College’s long standing relationship with what was formerly the NLCAA, but would later become the NSCAA.  Moorer was also asked to serve on the Board of the NSCAA. 

Moorer was part of a group of men and women who first “visualized” what would become the USCAA.  “It was a special time for all of us because we were all invested in trying to accomplish significant things athletically for our schools who shared many things in common.   That first meeting in Michigan with only a handful of us, proved to be enough to “get the ball rolling” and gain momentum for future growth,” Moorer said. “Those folks became very dear to me, and still are!  I am so pleased to see the continued growth of the USCAA and the great leadership and direction.”  He continued, “I’ll always be grateful for the work we got done together.”

Moorer now resides in Florence, Alabama, where he serves as a minister for a church.  Moorer and his wife, Beth, have three grown children all of whom were college athletes at Florida College- Samuel (basketball and soccer), Jenny (volleyball – 3 time USCAA All American and basketball), and Bradley (soccer).
