USCAA Directors Cup Standings after Fall Championships

2018-2019 USCAA Directors Cup Standings

NORFOLK, VA – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) has revealed the first round of 2018-2019 Directors Cup standings. The standings consist of results from the 2018 USCAA Golf, Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross-Country National Championships in addition to points for 2018 National Convention attendance and sport offerings.

The SUNY ESF Mighty Oaks top the Director’s Cup standings after the fall championships. A fourth-place finish in the Golf National Championship got the year started for ESF. The Mighty Oaks then won a national championship in women’s cross country and finished second in men’s cross country.  Each of SUNY ESF’s soccer teams earned points for their appearance in the Division II fields.

In second is the St. Mary of the Woods Pomeroys. The Pomeroys started the year winning the Golf National Championship. In addition, they earned a second-place finish in the Women’s Division I Volleyball National Championship. The St. Mary of the Woods cross country team had strong fall seasons, finishing second in women’s cross country and third in men’s cross country. The Pomeroys have 365 points overall.

Cleary University, who has won the last two Directors Cups, are currently in third-place. The Cougars have participated in three USCAA National Championships thus far and earned quality points in each tournament. The Women’s Soccer team earned 100 points for their National Championship in Women’s Division 1 Soccer. The men’s soccer team made the trip to Virginia Beach and also earned points for their appearance. The Cleary golf team placed third in State College, PA on the Penn State Blue Course for an additional 83 points.

Fourth-place currently belongs to SUNY Delhi who has accrued 322 points in the fall season. The Delhi Broncos made three different appearances this fall in USCAA tournament fields and placed in the top three in each of those events. The Delhi men’s cross-country team won their third straight national championship, the men’s golf team placed second, and the women’s cross-country team finished third.

Seven points behind Delhi, and rounding out the top five, is Penn State Brandywine. Brandywine’s soccer teams each made appearances in the Division II field and the men won the institution’s first National Championship in a dramatic overtime contest against Johnson & Wales Charlotte. The women finished second after dropping the championship game to UC Clermont, but still secured 90 points toward the Director’s Cup.

USCAA Director’s Cup points are awarded for the number of sports offerings, attendance at the 2018 USCAA National Convention, and results from USCAA National Championship events.
