USCAA Director’s Cup Standings After Golf and Fall Championships

PITTSBURGH, PA – After an exciting winter sports season, the USCAA has updated the Director’s Cup standings for the 2022-2023 season. The Director’s Cup was established to recognize member institutions that excel in a wide range of men’s and women’s sports for which the USCAA offers championships. The Cup sets out to highlight the efforts of an athletic program that is diverse in its sport offerings and who competes for national championships on a consistent basis.

The standings consist of results from the 2022 USCAA Golf, Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross Country championships, in addition to points awarded for 2022 National Convention attendance and current sport offerings.

Sitting in first place with 492 points is Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte. The Wildcats started off the year with a strong outing at the Penn State Blue Course, finishing first overall in the Men’s division earning 100 points. Picking up points for JWU at Fall Championship Week were the men’s and women’s cross country teams, as well as the men’s soccer team who finished first for Men’s Dll Soccer Championship.

Right on their heels in second place is Suny ESF with 399.5 points. SUNY ESF captured their first points at this year’s Golf championships in State College Pennsylvania. The Mighty Oaks had an impressive showing this fall at the Cross Country Invitational, with both the Men’s and Women’s teams placing first for an accumulative of 200 points. In addition, the women’s soccer team picked up Director’s Cup points for the Mighty Oaks after finishing in a tie for third at the national tournament. 

Rounding out the top three schools is University of Maine Fort Kent with 365 points. The UMFK Bengals had strong representation from their Fall sports teams with Volleyball along with both men’s and women’s soccer competing at Fall Championship Week. Volleyball finished second overall accounting for 90 points for the Bengals. While Men’s and Women’s soccer impressively claimed both titles for Dl Men’s and Women’s soccer bringing in 100 points each. 

Next up are the Basketball Small College National Championships in Richmond, Virginia March 12th-16th, 2023. The final Director’s Cup standings will be determined following the Small College World Series and the winner will be announced at the 2023 USCAA National Convention in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
