Pittsburgh, PA -- The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) is excited to announce the hiring of Jared Sullenberger as the Assistant Director of Championships and Marketing/PR.   As part of his position, Sullenberger will be overseeing planning of championship events such as the Soccer, Volleyball and Cross-Country National Championships and all USCAA Invitational events, ensuring tournament guidelines and sponsorship contracts, and working throughout the season on the management of the coaches’ polls and power rankings processes.  He will also develop and implement ongoing strategic plans aimed at enhancing the association’s day to day operations for marketing of the USCAA and its events and assisting in other membership service’s needs.

Before coming aboard at the USCAA, Sullenberger served as the Head Equipment Manager at Robert Morris University (NCAA D1) and was the assistant sports information director at Clarion University (NCAA D2), prior to his role at RMU.  In his role with the Colonials, Sullenberger oversaw the planning, coordinating and direction for all of the team's daily equipment operations. As part of his primary responsibilities, Sullenberger and his staff managed the entire logistic operations for the football team's daily outfitting, and uniform and apparel needs for both players and staff members.  Sullenberger was responsible for properly outfitting players with the safest and most advanced equipment, as well as ordering and maintaining all of the team's equipment and sideline apparel.

A skilled educator, coach and mentor with an in-depth knowledge of intercollegiate athletic program normalities, Jared strives to be a consistent motivator that inspires student athletes to bring their best to every aspect of life.  Prior to his role at Robert Morris, Sullenberger served as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Division II, Clarion University, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) since October of 2018.  While at Clarion, Sullenberger provided primary coverage for men's basketball, men's and women's golf, women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving and baseball. He also assists in all the daily operations of the Sports Information office.  During his time with the Golden Eagles, Sullenberger developed a robust social media strategy to increase followers across all social media platforms, helping grow the Clarion brand by almost 70%. Sullenberger also initiated the live streaming of athletic events , overseeing 15 student assistants to create graphics, operate cameras and broadcast live events.  Jared also served as a liaison for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at the NCAA Division II Fall Festival National Championships in 2018, where he facilitated communication between the team and event organizers, media, and fans.

Prior to joining Athletic Administration at Clarion, Sullenberger served as the Graduate Assistant and Sports Director in the communication programs pre-professional organization, Eagle Media Productions. Sullenberger also served as the main play-by-play broadcaster and the voice of Golden Eagle Athletics as a student assistant in the Sports Information Department.  Before taking his position in the Communication Department at Clarion, Sullenberger completed an internship with the Washington Wildthings, a professional baseball organization in the Independent Frontier League, where he served as a member of the video and media coordination team.

“I’m excited for Jared to join the team here at the USCAA”, says USCAA COO, BJ Bertges.  “His previous experiences on campus at the DI and DII levels in conjunction with his role as a liaison for the NCAA Division II Fall Festival will offer a unique perspective into how we can continue to grow our National Championships”.

Sullenberger graduated from Clarion University in 2018, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Digital Media Communications and a Minor in Sports Media and in 2020, earned a Master of Science where he received his degree in Mass Media Communication and Journalism.  Currently, Sullenberger attends Liberty University where he will receive his PhD in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Development in the Spring of 2024.
