Brandywine earned its first victory of the season and gave first-year Head Coach Emily Battista her first win by defeating Bryn Athyn in straight sets to begin the day.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) led all players with 13 kills and added two service aces, while Anna Ramirez (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) notched 10 kills and three aces. Laura Jezyk (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) distributed 28 assists and set down a team-best six aces.

The teams were tied 10-10 when Brandywine netted five-straight points, aided by an Alvarenga ace and Floyd kill, to take control of the first set. The Lions led by as many as eight points before settling for a 25-20 first set triumph.

Jezyk spurred a quick 6-0 run with five aces as Brandywine claimed command early in the second set. Floyd's kill extended the lead to double figures and Brandywine ran away with a 25-15 second set.

Bryn Athyn kept the final frame close, but an error and a Floyd kill gave Brandywine a 24-19 lead and set the Lions up with match point. Bryn Athyn scored the next four points, but a kill from Katie Snyder (Wilmington, Del./Dickinson) gave Brandywine the match.
