Weiss Clean Sheet Propels Warriors To Victory

The Vaughn College men's soccer team defeated Cooper Union on Saturday, October 12. The Warriors entered the non-conference contest coming off a disappointing 3-1 loss to Word of Life Bible the last time they took the field. The men's soccer team was extremely focused on getting back in the win column and it showed in their play from the beginning to the end of the match.

Freshman goalkeeper Christopher Weiss (East Rockaway, NY) was the star for the Warriors in the triumph. Weiss recorded five saves and did not concede any goals to Cooper Union. This was the first career clean sheet for the Warriors' rookie goalkeeper.

Matthew Crespo (Flushing, NY) scored the first goal of the game off a beautiful assist from senior captain Azzeddine Sekkat (Astoria, NY). Crespo now has two goals on the season. Kevin Moreira (Brooklyn, NY) scored his sixth goal of the season on a clean breakaway to give the Warriors a solid 2-0 lead. Adolf Yeboah (Bronx, NY) scored the games' final goal. Yeboah's shot deflected off a defender giving him his first goal of the season and helped the Warriors secure a 3-0 victory.

The Warriors have two games remaining in the regular season. They remain (2-2) in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) and hold the final playoff spot for the HVIAC post-season tournament.
