Hard Fought Match-Up leaves Lions Behind 89-79

New Kensington, PA-  New Kensington welcomed Butler County Community College for a nonconference matchup Wednesday night at the athletic center. Both teams entered the game looking for their first win of the season.

The Lions started fast, jumping out to an 11-4 lead in the first few minutes, but were unable to stay in front through half time with the score all knotted up at 37 at the break. The teams traded blows all night, but BC3 got hot in the second half on their way to handing our Lions their second loss of the season, 89-79.

Sophomore Aubrey Feaster II led the Lions in scoring on the night, with 17 points off the bench on an efficient 6-10 from the field. New Kensington had two other players in double digits, freshmen Ta'Rasi Means finished with 12 and sophomore Benjamin Cunningham chipped in 10.

Even in a losing effort, the Lions outrebounded BC3 30-27 (led by Benjamin Cunningham's 9) and showed great awareness assisting on 8 more field goals than their counterparts. Unfortunately, the Lions could not get a stop in the second half, as BC3 shot 68% from the field down the stretch.

The Lions will look to right the ship, as they travel to Lexington, VA tomorrow to take on the Virginia Military Institute in a nonconference showdown at 7 PM.
