VB Thrilling Home Opener Falls Short

The Penn State Fayette Volleyball team had a thrilling home opener falling short with a 2-3 Loss to Pitt Greenburg. This was the first time in history the two teams have ever competed in a regular season match.

"Even though we ended up on the wrong side of tonight's results by a few points, I think this was a great demonstration of the character of this team: drive, discipline and resiliency," interim head coach Joel Wingard said. "This point of the season is meant for growth and I saw a ton of that tonight."

Fayette lost 3 of 5 sets (25-22, 25-20, 23-25, 23-25 and 12-15).

Bella Buwawa (Forth Worth, Teax/North Crowley HS) had 20 kills and 12 total blocks, Emma Eckert (Lake Lynn, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) finished with 21 assists and 10 digs, Mackenzie Hall (Fairchance, PA/Albert Gallatin HS) rallied 19 digs.

Fayette will close out their opening week with the USCAA Tipoff Tournament hosted at Penn State Beaver's campus. The lady lions will face Carlow University with a 2:00 P.M. start and Johnson and Wales later that night at 8:00 P.M.
