SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine had won 32-straight Penn State University Athletic Conference regular-season volleyball matches, but the Lions' streak came to an end on Thursday night as Penn State Schuylkill claimed a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-20) victory over Brandywine.
Brandywine, which had not lost a PSUAC match since October 12, 2016, dropped to 2-1 in league play, while Schuylkill advanced to 3-0.
Kira Thorne (Alconbury, England/Alconbury) recorded a team-high six kills, while Hannah Sarafinas (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) both tallied four. Thorne added four of Brandywine's seven service aces and Alsatia Haas-Tome (Norwood, Pa./Interboro) produced 11 assists.
Gianna Anthony (Newtown Square, Pa./Sacred Heart Academy) posted a match-high nine digs, while James recorded five and Thorne registered four. Sarafinas tallied half of Brandywine's four blocks.
Brandywine (3-6, 2-1 PSUAC) can bounce back Friday night when the Lions face Ursinus at 7:00 pm.
