SMCC Nearly Forces Fifth Set In Close Loss To Bay Path

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Seawolves (7-9) rounded out the regular season with a four-set defeat at the hands of the Wildcats from Bay Pay University on Saturday, Oct. 15.

After an even start to the first set, Bay Path ultimately prevailed 25-14. SMCC responded with a 25-21 victory in set two before the Wildcats won 25-15 and 26-24 to close out the match.

Sophomore captain Rachel Pardi (Portland, Maine) led the Seawolves with 11 kills and four digs in her final regular season home match. First-year Jordan Bickford (Cumberland, Maine) finished with eight kills, one assist and four digs while Anna White (Buxton, Maine) totaled five kills, two assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Katie Ewings (North Yarmouth, Maine) executed four kills and sophomore captain and libero Emelia Lamie (Rochester, N.H.) posted two kills and 13 digs.

Coach's Thoughts: "We pushed them to the brink in the fourth set and scrapped with them all match. The last few matches haven't ended in our favor but we're playing a better brand every time we step in between the lines—something we're building as we enter playoffs next weekend." – Head Coach Garrett Lewellen
