Bengals slip past Moose

BANGOR, ME—  The University of Maine at Augusta Moose traveled to Bangor, Maine to take on the Bengals of the University of Maine at Fort Kent over the weekend.

After a slow offensive start from both teams, both UMA and UMFK found their rhythm in the second quarter.  The Moose were led by the sharpshooting of junior, Madeline Suhr (Georgetown, ME).  The Bengals went on a scoring spree in the second totally 26 points and were perfect from the charity stripe; putting them ahead of the Moose 33-20 at the half.

After a slow second half start, the Moose connected for 27 fourth quarter points lead by junior co-captain, Sydney Leblanc (Madison, ME).  Ultimately that fourth quarter run would not be enough to overcome the Bengals.  Final score was 73-57.

Leblanc led the Moose with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals. Suhr and teammate Kaeti Butterfield (Monmouth, ME) each had 10 points for the Moose.

UMFK was led by Hannah Jones with 16 points and 11 boards.

The Moose completed their limited 2020-21 season on Saturday.
