The Lady Lions Win 3 of 4 Games on the Road!

York, PA - The Lady Lions responded to last week's adversity and won three out of their next four matches at the PSU York Tri Match tournament.

New Kensington brought home a 3-0 victory against PSU Wilkes-Barre in their first game. New Ken hit on 31% of their 74 attacks with all seven Lady Lions chipping in with at least one kill. Sophomore Elliott Ferrent (Punxsutawney, PA) led the team with 12 kills, sophomore Gabby Wolfkill (Mifflin, PA) added 6, and freshmen Emily Lewandowski (New Kensington, PA) chipped in 5 of her own.

In game 2, they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of PSU Hazelton. (**Awaiting box score***)

The Lady Lions responded in their third appearance of the weekend by beating PSU Scranton in 3 sets (25-15, 25-15, and 25-12). New Kensington had the hot hand, as they served up 16 aces in the match, led by Emily Lewandowski with 4. Sophomore Kayla Unger (Carlisle, PA) was dropping dimes, as she assisted on 18 of the Lady Lions 28 kills. Elliott Ferrent and junior Hannah Pastor (New Kensington, PA) led the team with 9 kills each, while Gabby Wolfkill added 4 to secure the victory.

Finally, the Lady Lions wrapped up their trip with a 3-1 win over PSU Lehigh Valley to improve their record to 7-12 overall and 3-5 in the conference. New Kensington fell behind after the first set (25-23) but stormed back to win the next three sets (25-19, 25-13, and 25-15). New Kensington played a great defensive game, in which they tallied 48 total digs on the match, led by Heidi Moser's 8. Elliot Ferrent garnered double digit kills (10) and Emily Lewandowski added 9 of her own to give the Lady Lions another victory.

New Kensington will look to continue their winning ways this Wednesday, October 12th as they welcome PSU Fayette to the wellness center. Be sure to wear your pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
