Men’s Soccer Takes Down York 5-0

YORK, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington men's soccer improved their PSUAC record to 5-1 after defeating Penn State York in a 5-0 sweep on Saturday afternoon.

New Kensington had a strong first half, scoring all but one of their goals during this time. Almost every ten minutes the Lions sunk another goal, and put themselves further and further ahead of York. At the tenth minute, Benjamin Midlik (Hempfield Twp., Pa./ Hempfield) scored New Kensington's first goal, unassisted. Brady Braun (Harrison City, Pa./ Penn Trafford) scored at minute 25 off of a penalty kick, giving his team a 2-0 lead early into the period. Elian Buchi (Lower Burrell, Pa./ Burrell) made the lead 3-0, once he got a goal at the 35th minute. Towards the end of the period, Nate Andrews (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Sierra Catholic) made a direct kick and sunk it, giving New Kensington a large advantage moving into the second.

Nolan Johngarlo (Apollo, Pa./ Kiski Area) converted a direct kick from Gerald Butler Jr. (Brackenridge, Pa./Highlands) to score New Kensington's final goal.

New Kensington will be back at home on Wednesday, Oct. 9 as they go up against Penn State Greater Allegheny. The game will begin at 4 p.m.
