PAUL SMITH'S, N.Y.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team took care of business 2-1 in a Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) contest at Paul Smith's College (PSC) on Saturday, Sept. 14.

PSC took full advantage of a free kick goal just outside the 18-box to make quick work of a 1-0 advantage minutes into the game. The Lady SeaWolves went into half time conceding and trailing for the first time all season. The road team came out with a new purpose to begin the second and got even on a goal by sophomore midfielder Katelin Bennett (Freedom, Maine) who beat the keeper on a high-ball shot.

SMCC dominated most of the second half, but couldn't capitalize on a scoring opportunity inside regulation. It took just three minutes of extra-time to decide the golden goal winner—and it was Bennett again from the right flank dropping her signature looping shot over the Bobcat keeper for the second time.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Ethan Wells reflected, "Today the system broke down a bit—but on a more positive note I'm proud of the way our women showed a tenaciousness to battle from behind and get a result in a tough road environment. Hats off to a well-organized Paul Smith's squad."

The SeaWolves stay perfect and improve to 4-0, 2-0 in league action. Paul Smith's dips to 3-2 overall, 1-2 YSCC.

Next is a rematch of the 2018 YSCC championship game when SMCC travels to NHTI to take on the undefeated Lynx on Wednesday, Sept. 18. Kickoff in Concord, N.H. is scheduled for 4 p.m.
