Mont Alto wins fourth straight behind Rivera's 19

Penn State Mont Alto 80, Penn State Shenango 62

Penn State Mont Alto won its fourth straight game on Friday evening, defeating Penn State Shenango 80-62 to move to 2-0 in the PSUAC. Dariel Rivera led all scorers with 19, to go along with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Caleb Eckert scored 14 points with six rebounds. Nathan Osei scored 13 with seven boards in the winning effort. D'Montez Owens led Penn State Shenango with 14 points on 6 of 21 shooting, including seven rebounds and two steals.

 

Penn State Mont Alto led 10-2 early in the first half before Penn State Shenango went on a 7-0 run to trim the lead to one. Dariel Rivera converted on back-to-back layups to push the Mont Alto lead to 19-12 halfway through the first half. Mont Alto would lead by as much as 11 points before taking a 38-32 lead into the locker room. Dariel Rivera led all scorers at the break with ten points.

 

D'Montez Owens converted an and one with 13:36 remaining in the second half to cut the Penn State Mont Alto lead to only 47-44. Jeremiah Green made a layup on the next possession as Mont Alto hung on to a one point lead. Caleb Eckert went on a mini 4-0 run by himself to push the Mont Alto lead to twelve with the score 64-52 with seven minutes left in regulation. Mont Alto shot 22 free throw attempts, converting on 13 in the second half to win the PSUAC contest by a final of 80-62.
