New Kensington Suffers Loss in Men’s Soccer

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. – Penn State New Kensington's and Penn State Brandywine's men's soccer teams went head to head this afternoon. The visiting team went home victorious, 6-1. New Kensington sits at 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Totaling up 17 shots in the first period, Brandywine gave themselves an advantage over New Kensington, who shot three. Along with these shots, Brandywine found themselves with their first goal around the 18th minute. Soon after, the score read 2-0, and by halftime, Brandywine remained ahead, 4-0.

Once the second period began, Carlos Colindres (Schuylkill Haven, Pa. / Blue Mountain) scored the first and only goal for New Kensington. Brandywine then sunk two more, the last goal being at minute 81.

Joshua Zakrzewski (Finleyville, Pa. / Ringgold) made 12 saves on New Kensington's behalf.

The men will head out to Penn State Hazleton for a conference match on Sat., September 21. The game will begin at 2 p.m.
