Penn State Mont Alto went a perfect 2-0 in the season opening Benchoff Tournament. Nathan Osei earned Most Valuable Player honors in the tournament after his 27 point performance on Saturday afternoon. Dariel Rivera (16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) and Cameron Williams (10 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists) were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

How It Happened- First Half

Bryant & Stratton led by as much as four a couple times in the early going at 10-6 and 12-8. A Jason Whea three pointer pushed the Bryant & Stratton lead to 15-10 with 10:22 remaining in the first half. Following a Clinique Jackson layup to make the score 20-16, Penn State Mont Alto went on an impressive 17-0 run to end the half. Anthony Davis had six points during the run and Dariel Rivera added four.

Dariel Rivera had 11 points for Penn State Mont Alto in the first half. Nathan Osei (9) and Anthony Davis (6) were the other top scorers for the Nittany Lions. Dominic Jones had eight points for Bryant & Stratton.

 

How It Happened- Second Half

Nathan Osei and Cameron Williams went a combined 10 for 18 from the field, including 4 of 8 from distance. The two accounted for 24 of Penn State Mont Alto's 38 points in the second half. The two teams tied the second half scoring at 38-38 as Penn State Mont Alto advanced to 2-0 on the young season with a 73-58 home victory.

Nathan Osei led all scorers with 18 second half points as he went 7 of 12 from the field including four three pointers. Williams (6) and Rivera (5) rounded out the top scorers for Penn State Mont Alto.

Penn State Mont Alto won the rebounding margin 43-24... Nathan Osei's 27 points are a new career high, his previous coming against Penn State Lehigh Valley last season in which he scored 17... Cameron Williams came up three assists shy of a triple-double.
