PITTSBURGH, Pa.— The Penn State Beaver men's soccer team picked up an 11-0 loss to Point Park University in Tuesday night's road game.
Point Park University knocked down an early goal only 1:08 minutes in and once again at the 5-minute mark, putting Beaver down 2-0. The game went scoreless for the next 12 minutes, but Beaver couldn't stop Point Park University from adding on five more goals to put the Lions down 7-0 at halftime.
Things didn't look much better for Beaver in the second half, as Point Park University scored off a rebound at the 52nd minute and off a penalty kick at the 66th minute to bring the deficit to 9-0. The hits kept coming as Beaver gave up two more goals by Point Park University in the final 14 minutes, handing the Lions an 11-0 defeat.
Senior Cory Mueller (Ambridge), sophomore RJ Long (Atco/Winslow Township), senior Romaine Thompson (Philadelphia/Penn Wood) and freshman Jake Saldivar (Darlington/Blackhawk) each contributed one of Beaver's four SOG. Beaver also finished with six shot attempts.
Freshman Brennan Schultz (Kane/Kane Area) served as goalie for the first half of the game and had seven saves against the 14 SOG he faced. Freshman Julian Hauff (Frederick/Governor Thomas Johnson) served as the goalie for the second half and had four saves against the eight SOG he faced.
