Mustangs Battle for Tie with Panthers

Albany, NY - The Mustangs travelled to Albany for a conference game against ACPHS Panthers.

The panthers took the lead within 10 minutes when midfielder Gavin Carvey won a 50:50 challenge in the box before slotting the ball under the outrushing CM keeper Arnaud Nyagasaza.

The Mustangs pressed for the equalizer hitting the post and outshooting the Panthers in the first half. Despite their pressure CM failed to find the net and went into the second half trailing to the Carvey goal.

The second half started with Mustangs continuing to press forward. 17 minutes into the second half they finally got on the scoreboard when Romano Bassa found himself isolated on the right wing. Bassa cut inside beating a defender before unleashing a high curling shot to the upper left corner of the Panthers goal.

CM had the ball in the goal 2 other times in the second half, unfortunately the officials called both back in controversial fashion. Despite the Mustangs finishing with more shots and shots on goal they could not find the winner as Ryan Herrick stood firm in the ACPS goal. Herrick finished with 11 saves. Nyagasaza recorded 7.

With the tie the Mustangs move to 2-0-2 for the season. CM welcomes NHTI this Wednesday for a "spirit day" conference game. Kick off 4pm, Auburn ME.
