SANFORD, Maine – The Seawolves (6-4) cruised to an 18-run victory over the Hawks from York County Community College (YCCC) before falling to the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (CMCC) at Goodall Park as part of the Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 8.

SMCC scored 12 runs in the first two innings of game one, using a flurry of base hits and savvy base running to jump out to a big lead early against YCCC. Sophomore Gabriel Rivera (Caguas, Puerto Rico) led the way with four RBI on two singles while sophomore Sam Keblinsky (Mount Desert Island, Maine) tallied three RBI and three runs scored on a pair of hits. Sophomore captain Andrew Martin (Dracut, Mass.) and first-year Ryan Thurber (South Portland, Maine) each drove in two runners while seven different Seawolves chipped in with one RBI. On the mound, Joseph Townsend (Scarborough, Maine) threw three perfect innings to collect the win with sophomores Jack Falvo (East Hartford, Conn.) and Logan Burt (Philadelphia, Pa.) each throwing an inning in relief to close out the game.

Game two starter and sophomore Liam Jann (Philadelphia, Pa.) kept CMCC from pulling away, two earned runs on two hits over four innings, but the SMCC bats cooled down after a scorching-hot start to the afternoon. Martin's RBI double in the sixth scored Thurber, and Hoh scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh brought the Seawolves within three before the Mustangs recorded the final out with the ensuing batter.

The Seawolves round out the fall portion of their schedule with a record of 6-4 and will resume play in April 2023.

Seawolves Stars of the Day:

Martin: Three hits, three RBI
Rivera: Two hits, four RBI
Keblinsky: Three hits, three RBI
