Auburn, ME - It was rivalry night in Auburn, as men's soccer played host to the Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College under the lights. It was a hard fought battle, stretching into double overtime, with SMCC prevailing.

The Seawolves started off the game strong and but a resilient CM defense held them at bay until the 34-minute where Keto Tchiputo assisted by Joel Musese. The score stayed 1-0 ending the first half.

Motivated to even the score, in the 66th minute off of a deflected PK Julian Clements lasered a shot past the SMCC keeper to bring the score 1-1. SMCC wasn't done though, the Keto-Joel combo answered in the 76th minute with Keto Tchiputo netting a pass from Joel Musese bringing the tally to 2-1.

Desperate to even the tally and less than a minute left CM was awarded a freekick in SMCC's defensive third. Manuel Kiabuwa blasted the ball across the SMCC's 18-yard box where a hungry Muktar Ali was laying in wait to finish the cross, sending the game into overtime.

SMCC and CMCC found no luck in the first period of overtime leaving the score 2-2.

With the game coming to a close, CM ultimately succumbed to the tenacious Seawolves offense. With Joel Musese finishing a well placed pass from Alvaro Coto to end the game 3-2.

After the game Assistant Coach, Brandon Morissette, commented, "We were out-played in the first 30 minutes, and we have some things to figure out in the midfield, but our guys never gave up. It was a true test of will for them and the coaching staff was proud of how hard they fought."

CMCC is back in action this weekend when they host Hampshire College on Saturday at 1:00pm.
