Bay Path Snaps Streak Wth 3-1 Win over MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—

The MCLA Volleyball Team returned to the court this evening when they welcomed the Bay Path University Wildcats to the Amsler Campus Center Gymnasium. After becoming the first Trailblazer to record 1000 career kills, Chloie Garber continued to collect accolades when she crossed the 1000 career dig barrier in MCLA's 3-1 loss to Bay Path. The combination of Anastasiya Tsetsko and Asja Kazic combined for 38 kills to lead the Wildcats past the Trailblazers

  • Records: Bay Path University Wildcats 8-4 (USCAA 0-0) | MCLA Trailblazers 4-12 (MASCAC 0-1)
  • Series History: MCLA leads the all-time series 22-3. Tonight's win snapped an MCLA ten-game win streak over the Wildcats, including a 3-0 home win last season on November 1, 2023. The Trailblazers also took the first-ever meeting between the teams 3-0 on October 2, 1999, in North Adams.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Despite the 3-1 final margin for the Wildcats, all four sets were competitive, with the Wildcats taking the first set 25-19, being the only set in which one team didn't cross the 20-point mark. The night included 15 ties and nine lead changes. MCLA took the second set 25-23 before Bay Path bounced back to take the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-20.
  • Bay Path took the first set behind five kills from Anastasiya Tsetsko and three from Asja Kazic. Tsetsko finished the night with a game-high 21 kills, while Kazic finished the night with 17 kills and a .432 hitting percentage. Kazic picked up eight kills in the second set alone.
  • MCLA rebounded to take the second set, with senior right-side Chloie Garber (Eagle River, AK) leading the way with four of her nine kills coming in the set. Garber also contributed three digs in the second set, with the first one being her 1000th career dig.
  • The Trailblazers junior outside hitter Elizabeth Brown (Lee, MA) had a team-high 14 kills for the hosts, including five in the first and third sets.

UP NEXT:
