Lions fall short against PSU York

York, PA- New Kensington traveled to York, PA Friday night to take on 1st place Penn State York in a PSUAC showdown. The Lions matched their opponents play for most of the first half, but York finished on a 12-3 run to take a 38-29 lead into the half.

The Lions kept it close throughout the second half, cutting the lead to 8 on a jump shot by senior forward Joseph Dusabe (Toronto, ON) with 4:28 seconds left in the game. That is as close as it would get, as York tightened up down the stretch on their way to a 75-65 victory.

The lions had a good night from the field, shooting 47% as a team, but committed 20 turnovers, resulting in 21 points for York. The Lions were also outrebounded 33-24 as a team, which translated to 13 second chance points for York.

Freshmen guard Ta'Rasi Means (Plum, PA) led all Lions in both scoring and rebounding on the night, posting 16 points on 8-14 shooting from the field and adding 7 rebounds. Fellow sophomore guard Shyheim Flanagan (Breaux Bridge, LA) added 13 points, while sophomore forward Jovan Kojic (Subotica, Serbia) chipped in 12 of his own.

The Lions will look to get back above .500 in conference play as they travel to Mont Alto, PA today to take on Penn State Mont Alto in a PSUAC matchup.
