Crusaders and Lions Draw 4-4

Front Royal, VA – Christendom Crusaders Men's Soccer Team finished in a draw against Penn State Mont Alto Lions at home on Saturday, September 24th.

For the first 15th minutes of the game, both teams battled hard, but neither team could secure the advantage. But in the 16th minute, the Lions took the first lead of the game, 1-0. The Crusaders responded quickly with a goals from Bobby Vander Woude (Freshman/Nokesville, VA) and Aganze Nkere (Senior/Baltimore, MD) before the close of the first half. As the half came to a close the Crusaders had the 2-1 advantage.

The Crusaders and the Lions were both persistent in their battle as the second half began. Only ten minutes in to the half, Christendom's Sean Corcoran (Sophomore/Lawrence, NJ) used a burst of speed to break away from the defense and score, bringing the Crusaders to a lead of 3-1. Just minutes later, the Lions responded with a goal. The Crusaders continued to push hard and with a goal from Mark Taylor (Sophomore/Springfield, VA), they were ahead by two. The Lions did not settle for a loss and before the final whistle, they put two more goals in the back of the net to finish with a tie 4-4.
