SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's soccer team recorded its second consecutive shutout with a 4-0 rout of Bryant & Stratton- Albany in a non-conference affair on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The SeaWolves jumped on the board early on a firecracker volley 25-yards deep off the foot of sophomore captain Paige Lord (Pittsfield, Maine)—this her first career collegiate goal. The home team carried the 1-0 advantage into the half having dominated the possession game.

SMCC was again quick to produce in the second when junior captain Callie O'Brien (South Portland, Maine) linked up with first-year Isabella Marino (Dresden, Maine) for a score at the 47:11 mark. O'Brien would open it up on a rocket that passed through the Albany keeper midway through the half and completed the hat trick on a ball that found the side netting nearing regulation. O'Brien brings her goal total to 4 this season.

First-year goal keeper Calley Baker (Jay, Maine) was forced into making just one save backed by a sound defensive unit that limited the opposition to three shots.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Ethan Wells reflected, "Wins are nice to get but to keep a clean sheet is even better. This group is just getting going—still learning how to play with each other and anticipate movement on and off the ball. I'm excited to see how we come out on a back-to-back with a conference opponent tomorrow."

The Lady Wolves improve to 2-0-0 on the season; Bryant & Stratton dips to 0-4-0 in the early goings.

The action continues Sunday, Sept. 8 when SMCC begins Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play hosting the 1-2-0 Knights from Vermont Technical College. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Wainwright Recreation Complex. LIVE STATS.
