UMF Outlasts SMCC 67-59

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's basketball program suffered a 67-59 loss to the NCAA Div. 3 Beavers from the University of Maine at Farmington on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Despite a 13-point first-half performance by senior captain DeSean Cromwell (Biddeford, Maine), the Beavers outscored the home team 38-25 over the first 20 minutes of action. In a tale of two halves, it was the Seawolves who won the second 20 minutes by a 5-point margin. Sophomores Bode Meader (Gorham, Maine) and Jack Pyzynski (Saco, Maine) combined for 22 of SMCC's 34 second-half points.

Cromwell topped all scorers with 15, adding eight rebounds and three steals to a complete stat line. Farmington's Terion Moss led his team with 14 points and five rebounds.

The result moves SMCC to 7-3 overall; Farmington improves to 4-1.

The Seawolves get back to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) scheduling when they play host to the Lynx from NHTI on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Tip-off at The HUB is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. WATCH
