Bay Path Dominates Fitchburg State in a Commanding 8-0 Victory

Longmeadow, MA-

In a decisive game held on March 23, 2025, at South Campus Stadium, Bay Path University showcased their prowess with a commanding 8-0 win over Fitchburg State. The game, which spanned just an hour and a half, highlighted Bay Path's offensive strength and Fitchburg State's struggles on the field.

Bay Path's victory was fueled by standout performances from key players. Pitcher M. Sunderland was a dual threat, not only delivering a stellar performance on the mound with a complete game shutout, allowing just three hits and striking out four, but also contributing significantly to the team's offense. Sunderland went 2-for-2 at the plate, driving in three runs and hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

The game saw Bay Path's offense firing on all cylinders from the onset. They opened the scoring in the first inning when A. Morrison crossed the plate, capitalizing on an error by Fitchburg's left fielder. Bay Path continued to apply pressure, adding another run in the second inning courtesy of Y. Badillo's groundout that allowed S. Verrengia to score. In the third inning, C. Austin's double brought home two more runs, extending the lead to 4-0. Bay Path sealed their dominance in the fourth inning with a two-run triple by M. Vera, followed by Sunderland's towering home run that brought the score to 8-0.

Fitchburg State struggled offensively, managing only three hits throughout the game. I. Sou was a bright spot for Fitchburg, collecting two of the team's three hits. However, the team was unable to capitalize on these opportunities, leaving runners on base and failing to score. Pitching for Fitchburg, M. Le and S. Gabay faced challenges, collectively allowing nine hits and eight runs over four innings. The Bay Path lineup proved too formidable, effectively dismantling Fitchburg's pitching strategy.

Wildcats are at home on Friday, March 28th facing Anna Maria at 3:00pm.
