The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Soccer team concluded their regular season schedule with a 3-0 win over visiting Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse. The victory gives the Bobcats an impressive 8-1-1 record during the regular season.
How it Happened:
The defending USCAA National Champion Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Soccer team looked to be reaching championship level form during their match over the weekend. The Bobcats were the dominant side throughout the match and were relentless in their attack to breakdown a compact defensive side in Bryant & Stratton College- Rochester.
The breakthrough for the Bobcats came in the first half off the first career goal for midfielder Aeron Collis. Collis was found off a great pass from Aidan O'Keeffe and made no mistake on the finish to break the deadlock. Heading into the half, the Bobcats remained ahead with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, Bryant & Stratton College- Rochester looked to break out of their compact defensive shape trailing 1-0. However, the Bobcats were able to find more pockets of space in their attacking play and score twice in the second half.
The goals were courtesy of the dynamic attacking duo, Decklan Marcelle and Shawn Altidor Viau. The goals for the two strikers improve their season marks to 2 goals and 3 assists for Marcelle and 12 goals and 4 assists for Altidor Viau.
For the Bobcats, the defensive line earned their 7th clean sheet on the season. The combination of Felipe Pampolim, Renato Filho, Jhonny Zamor, and Ericles Rodrigues in front of goalkeeper Giovanni Gallina has proved difficult for opponents to breakdown all season.
"I am really happy with the growth that our team has seen over the course of the season," said Head Coach Nick Dimitrievski. "We are starting to play some really high level soccer and are limiting our mistakes. We will wait to see if we have earned a bid to defend our USCAA National Title on Tuesday and continue to improve before the tournament in a couple weeks."
Next Game:
The Bryant & Stratton College- Syracuse Men's Soccer team will watch the USCAA National Championship Selection Show this Tuesday, November 1st at 4pm to see if they have earned an at-large bid to the tournament.
