Lions Get First Win of the Season

New Kensington, PA-  The Lions notched their first win of the season today as they outlasted Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) 75-53 at the athletic center. The win brings New Kensington's record to 1-3 on the season, as they get ready for their conference schedule to begin.

New Kensington shot 47% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc in the first half, on their way to a 37-25 lead at the break. The Lions never looked back, as they played a full 40 minutes of complimentary basketball, outrebounding CCAC 44-28 and scoring 25 points off turnovers.

The Lions were paced with a stellar performance in a double-double effort by sophomore forward Benjamin Cunningham. Cunningham finished with 14 points on 6 of 11 field goal attempts, and led New Kensington with 13 total rebounds.

Two other Lions finished with double digits, as sophomore guard Shyheim Flannagan and freshmen guard Ta'rasi Means chipped in 12 and 11 points off the bench. Overall, New Kensington's bench played a huge role in the win, outscoring CCAC 41-15.

The Lions will look to continue their momentum as they travel to Penn State Fayette on Tuesday, November 15th for their first PSUAC contest of the season.
