Tough Loss for Beaver
New Philadelphia, OH - Penn State Beaver Men's Basketball was on the road taking on Kent State University Tuscarawas.
This match up proved to be an interesting game to watch. In the first half of the game, Kent State took an 8-0 lead after Beaver was unable to score for the first five minutes of the game. Beaver did not give up easily. Beaver was able to make an 8-0 run that brought the score 13-12. Kent State fired back going on a 11-0 scoring streak. Within the final minutes of the first half, Beaver was able to outscored Kent state 10-5 bringing the half time score to 29-22.
Kent State held onto a lead for much of the second half of the game. With the score sitting at 37-31, Beaver was able to get into a good grove after a steal turned into an easy bucket. Within a couple minutes, Beaver brought the score to 37-35. Beaver took their first lead of the game with 11:32 left in the half and the score sitting at 38-37. With just under ten minutes remaining, Kent State would get their lead back and score enough to put them up 58-53. Beaver was able to get back in it with just over a minute remaining and the score sitting 58-55. However, Beaver would be unable to break Kent State's lead and would lose the game 62-58. Beaver now sits with a winless record and a 9 game losing streak.
Senior Izaiah Dickerson (Washington, DC) once again was a leader tonight for Beaver having 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Freshman Josh McCloud (Houston, TX) also made a big impact finishing the game with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 steal. Senior Devon Johnson (Washington, DC) was a play maker this game having 9 assists and also scoring 7 points and securing 6 rebounds. Sophomore Chris Green (Washington, DC) came out big this game having 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists, and 3 blocks.
