New York men's soccer team overwhelms Penn State Lehigh Valley in all facets; Knights register 6-0 victory

The Berkeley College New York men's soccer team continued to roll yesterday, silencing the Nittany Lions of Penn State Lehigh Valley by a score of 6-0. With the victory, the Knights improved to 8-4-1 on the 2019 campaign, while Penn State Lehigh Valley dipped to 5-6.

The Knights recorded a pair of goals early in this one, both courtesy of reigning HVIAC Player of the Week Amadou Sy. The sophomore forward netted an unassisted goal three minutes into the action, then registered another tally four minutes later (assisted by Marcos Leon). Berkeley College held a 2-0 lead as time expired on the opening half.

In the opening minute of the second stanza, Berkeley increased its advantage to 3-0 when Tcharly Verna found the back of the net. Three minutes later, it was Sy striking again, as he received a beautiful cross pass from first year Knight Jonathan Russell before burying the ball into the net, giving him his third goal of the afternoon.

Rounding out the scoring for Berkeley College were Meshema Charles (at 78:00) and Dario Cruz-Sepulveda (at 85:00). Both goals were unassisted.

Remarkably, the suffocating Knights defense didn't yield a single shot all afternoon long, as Dario Cruz-Sepulveda and Yusuf Figueroa earned a combined shutout. Cruz-Sepulveda played 50 minutes in net and another 15 in the field, and Figueroa logged the final 40 minutes in goal for Berkeley.

The Knights will to stay perfect in October this Wednesday, as Berkeley will take to the road to battle Utica College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 4:00pm. Those looking to follow the match via live stats and video can do so by clicking the link below:
