SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Seawolves women's volleyball squad hosted a tri-match with the Lynx and the Mustangs to open the 2022 season, earning a straight-set victory over NHTI before rounding out the day with a loss to CMCC in four sets.

The Seawolves came out of the gates hot in the first match of the day, taking set one 25-13. The Lynx pushed to keep things close in set two before SMCC came through in the clutch for a 25-22 victory. Despite another late push, the Seawolves closed it out in the third set, 25-18 and started the season off with a win. Sophomore captain Rachel Pardi (Portland, Maine) finished with 13 kills and a 46.2 kill percentage while first-year Anna White (Buxton, Maine) totaled six kills and four digs. First-year Haleigh Wyatt (Biddeford, Maine) recorded 21 assists and seven digs in the match and sophomore captain Emilia Lamie (Rochester, N.H.) tallied two assists and nine digs as the libero.

Following a season-opening victory, the Seawolves dropped three hard-fought sets to the in-state rival Mustangs. Falling 25-20 and 25-27 in the first two sets against CMCC, SMCC turned it around and took set three 25-23 to force a fourth, though the Mustangs quickly closed it out, 25-10.
