GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Zack Bardwell (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) scored during the 66th minute and Penn State Brandywine's defense pitched its third shutout in the last week as the Lions posted a 1-0 victory at Gwynedd Mercy on Monday afternoon.
Bardwell found the game's lone goal at the 65:26 mark as he ripped a shot over the head of Gwynedd keeper John Wagner. Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) setup Bardwell for the goal with a pass out of traffic, recording a point for the fourth-straight game.
Brandywine dominated the pace of play from start to finish, playing nearly the entire game in its offensive end of the field. The Lions outshot the Griffins 21-5 and recorded 11 corner kicks, compared to just two for GMU.
Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) went untested in goal to record his second shutout in as many days. He now owns a 5-0-2 record this season.
Bardwell paced the Lions with five shots, while Lex Smith (Centreville, Va./ASU Preparatory Academy) tallied four shots.
Brandywine (6-0-2) will play for the third time in four days when it hosts Penn State Mont Alto on Wednesday at 2:00 PM.
