Mustangs Break Even On The Road

Portsmouth, NH - CM women's volleyball travelled down to Great Bay in a doubleheader matchup against Great Bay Community College and Paul Smith's College.

The first match with GBCC began with a back and forth first set mostly due to the Mustangs struggling to find consistent serving. However the Mustangs were able to surge strong early in the next two sets priming themselves for a sweep of the Herons

The match against Paul Smith resulted in the Mustangs first loss of the season after going a full 5 sets. Prior to this match they had only dropped 2 sets all season.  The first 3 sets were all decided by two points and were full of back and forth competition with each team fighting for points and energy on the court. Unfortunately, in the final 2 sets the Mustangs struggled to maintain that higher level of play and Paul Smith capitalized on it, winning big in sets 4 and 5.

Coach Chapman had this to say, "Today we fought hard but were not able to get the job done.  Hats off to Paul Smith, they are an incredibly scrappy team.  The loss was a great learning experience for us though, showed us several things that we can improve on.  Thankfully we have a couple of weeks to prepare to face them again in the last match of the regular season and hopefully we will get to play them again in the post season."

The Mustangs next take on Fort Kent and SMCC at home this coming Sunday.
